Do these new $1 coins actually have any gold content?

Sorry, no gold in these coins. Like the Sacagawea dollar coins, they are made of a pure copper core with outer layers of manganese brass (.770 copper, .120 zinc, .070 manganese and .040 nickel)

  2. chanceys_mommy says:

No, they have the exact composition of the Sacagawea Dollar, which is a pure copper core with outer layers of manganese brass(.770 copper, .120 zinc, .070 manganese, and .040 nickel)

Yeah right… Our government wouldn’t be so kind as to give us a stimulus package and circulate gold coins.

The NEW PRESIDENTIAL FIRST LADY coins will have an ACTUAL gold content to them.

In all actuality the Presidential dollars are the same composition as the Sacagewea Dollars. Both are currently being minted.

The people with the Red Books are right. The Presidential dollars do not hold up well in everyday use, they turn dark. Now the proofs which are a specially made coin with a mirror finish and the coins in the mint sets which are also specially made and have a satin finish are another story and look very impressive. They are in holders, so no one gets there finger prints on them.
